What is it.
Ask a finance professional and they will say that Superannuation is merely a concessionally taxed environment for our retirement savings.
Ask a normal person and they will say Superannuation it is so complicated they barely understand it and that they don’t trust it because the government is always changing the rules. They know it is important but they find it confusing to deal with.
Obviously Superannuation is a vital yet often misunderstood part of everybody’s retirement savings. For many it is their only retirement savings. As such it shouldn’t be forgotten about and put in the bottom drawer until you receive the next yearly statement.
Regardless of age or balance there are always reasons to look at your superannuation statement and know exactly how it is invested, how it has performed and what, if any insurances are attached to it.
Self-Managed Super Funds
Endgame Advice can help you with all of your superannuation needs, but tends to specialise in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF).
A SMSF is an excellent vehicle to increase your wealth as they allow you greater control of your retirement savings. They can be established individually or in combination with a significant other if your individual balance isn’t large enough. They open up your investment world significantly, but they require a more hands on approach than the once a year shuffle the statement to the bottom drawer trick.
Other Super Services
As clichéd and basic as it sounds the earlier you take an interest in your superannuation savings the better it is going to be for you.
Ask about my super check up mini advice. This is where I provide a scaled back statement of advice that runs through your superfund, explains to you exactly how your fund rates to what else is out there, whether it is appropriate for you at your current station in life and what are you likely to achieve in retirement if you make no changes. In short, is it going to get you where you want to be when you need it most the most.
